What is the Essential Eight?
The Essential Eight is a set of baseline mitigation strategies developed by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) to help organisations protect against the most common cyber threats. Organisations are assessed against four maturity levels (ML0–ML3) across eight strategies. For many Australian government agencies and their suppliers, achieving a target Essential Eight maturity level is a compliance requirement.
